Fiat Punto Fiat's Answer To Jazz & i20

ADVERTISEMENTS
Designed by the famous Giorgetto Giugiaro of Italdesign, Fiat Punto was given the Euro NCAP five-star rating for passenger safety. It is an attractive and spacious car which suits your personality.

The styling of the Grande Punto stands out in the current automotive scene for the beauty of the exterior line, which is modern, elegant and distinctly 'Italian', a 'Mediterranean' stylistic language where the tapered rounded lines seem to be inspired by the sports cars of the 1950s and 1960s.

This is a car created to 'excite', but also to express the solidity that comes from superb quality standards. This is borne out by extremely high safety standards, attention to detail that is unusual in this market bracket, and exceptional comfort.

The result is a car that embodies the passion, and the styling and construction capabilities of a brand that was founded over a century ago.

Main styling elements of Grande Punto are Sporty grill, Flared wheel arches, Muscular contours, Sporty dual tone interiors, Sporty wide profile 195/60 R15 - 15" alloys.

Interiors & Comfort

Inside, heavily bolstered sports seats provide plenty of support during cornering, and are comfortable on long journeys. The chunky leather steering wheel is a joy to hold, while the dashboard design is simple and well laid out. The punto is preceded with “Grande” to indicate its larger size.

Fiat claim the interior represents the epitome of Italian style. It means being able to get in and out of the car easily and comfortably, and once you are sitting down, it means being surrounded by an airy environment, enjoying its generous space and greater visibility.

The cabin has a few storage areas and a luggage organiser can be bought as an accessory which also raises the floor of the boot so it becomes flat with the rear seats folded and also acts as a box to hide valuables.

Grande Punto feels well made and although the hard plastics aren't that nice to touch, they look quite attractive. Main comfort and convinience features of Grande

new Audi R8 GT3

ADVERTISEMENTS
Ready to make it's racing debut at the Belgian GT Championship, April 25-26th, the Belgian Audi Club's new Audi R8 GT3 just made it's "meet and great" press debut. As Audi is not participating in the ALMS this year, they are focused on winning the 24 hours of Le Mans and the R8 GT3 will be a great contender.

Though the Belgian Audi Club did not participate in any championship races last year, the Audi R8 GT3's debut by Audi Sport last August was too much to pass up. Here's what JG Mal-Voy, President of the Belgian Audi Club had to say about the car:

“After long months of negotiations and through excellent relationships with the heads of Audi Sport,” says Mal-Voy. “We are pleased to announce that this year we will begin an Audi R8 GT3 in the Belgian GT. The Phoenix Racing team, mandated by the factory will support the preparation and maintenance of this fantastic car. ”

Veteran Belgian Audi Club drivers, Tim Verbergt and Jean-François Hemroulle will be piloting the new R8 Gt3. “We continue to trust Verbergt Tim and Jean-François Hemroulle,” continues JG Mal-Voy. “I am convinced that we have with these two drivers of one of the best duos ever. They are very fast, are understood to perfection and they are both parts of the country. What more can you ask for?”

Be sure to keep your eyes open later this month at the Belgian GT Championship to see the Belgian Audi Club's R8 GT3 in action.

Audi R8 V12 TDI Le Mans Diesel Prototype 2010

ADVERTISEMENTS

Audi_R8_V12_Le_Mans_TestDrive.jpgOur auto show coverage slogan is "always say yes." This time we said yes to a first drive of the Audi R8 V12 TDI Le Mans concept car, which looks ravishing in the same brilliant red paint scheme it wore to Geneva. But who really cares about paint? We were looking forward to stretching this one-of-a-kind vehicle to the limits. And by stretching it out we mean doing our best not to destroying this invaluable prototype by propelling it into a pot hole.

To make sure we didn't kill ourselves or, more importantly, the car, Audi provided three black Q7's driven by ex-cops for escort. I suddenly knew what it was like to be a Russian oligarch. Audi's best prototype protection feature is Uwe Haller, the car's affable project manager and my navigator. The car is his baby and he managed to point out every manhole cover on the road. This being New York it was a common refrain.

This prototype features the 6.0 V12 TDI, which produces a pavement destroying 500 horsepower and 738 lb-ft of torque. How does it drive? For the purpose of self-preservation, this particular version was limited to half the torque and horsepower so that we couldn't have too much fun with it.
Nevertheless, the six-speed gear box worked, the engine revved up and the brakes clamped down hard. Maybe a little too hard. At one point Uwe winced and asked "did you hear that?" Did I hear what? The brakes were made a noise that made him very nervous. Was I about to get the Audi R8 fire experience?

Thankfully, that didn't happen. I waited as we turned back onto 11th avenue slowed down to get some daylight between myself and the lead Q7. There was a good 80 yards in front of us and I shifted into second and let that oil burner roar. How fast did I get? I'm not sure, but fast enough to make Uwe tense up (which makes me think 28 mph).

Though this wasn't a full force test drive experience, there was one feature of the car that works at any speed: style. We got lots of looks (helped by the escort) and people did the best they could to get pictures of me in the car. When people yelled I told them I was George Clooney. I don't think they bought it.
