Less than a month after Sony’s Playstation Network was compromised by hackers seeking personal information, a similar mishap has struck the Canadian arm of Honda / Acura. In a notice to its customers, the Japanese automaker revealed:

“The incident involved the unauthorized access of information as held in our records in 2009, specifically name, address, Vehicle Identification Number (VIN), and in a small number of cases, Honda Financial Services account numbers.”

It is believed that as many as 283,321 have been affected by the security breach. Honda President Says NSX Successor Back on Track, May Use a Hybrid Drivetrain

ADVERTISEMENTS

The Shanghai Auto Show brought some exciting news for Honda fans as the Japanese automaker revealed plans for the development of a new sports car that will be the spiritual successor to the iconic Honda NSX (Acura NSX in North America).

Speaking on the sidelines of the show, Honda Motor Company president, Takanobu Ito, said the new car won't feature the V10 engine that had been planned for the next NSX, as the company scrapped this project back in 2008, during the global financial crisis. Ito told reporters that the future NSX would be exhilarating to drive but also environmentally friendly. “That's the kind of sports car we want to make. We are working very hard on it,” Ito was quoted as saying by Autonews.

Acura rdx 2012

ADVERTISEMENTS

The Acura rdx 2012, due out Summer 2012, will provide most owners all they need in a 4-door, 5-passenger luxury SUV. For the technophile, the RDX will add a Technology Package option to its single trim level, to offer better sound, more refined climate control, and wireless capability. Finishing with a successful 2012 sales year, the new Acura rdx 2012 will undergo few upgrades.Power for the RDX is provided from a 4-cylinder, 240-hp, 2.3-liter engine with a 5-speed automatic gearbox, which gives excellent gas mileage, but lower than hoped power. In an era of elevated environmental awareness, the RDX offers gas mileage specs at 17-mpg city and 22-mpg highway. The 2012 RDX exudes luxury with its standard two-phase automatic air conditioning with air filtration, paddle shifters, sports seats, hide-trimmed accents, and superior sound system including a 360-watt AM/FM tuner, 6-disc CD, MP3, 7-speakers, XM Satellite Radio. The RDX also sports a fully outfitted power moonroof.
New car shoppers who want more buttons and gizmos to play with while driving will think the RDX with the optional Technology Package is a tecchie's playground. They will enjoy barreling down the interstate while tweaking their new BlueTooth HandsFreeLink wireless telephone interface, tuning in on the AcuraLink satellite communication system with real-time traffic, or involving their every available moment fine-tuning the GPS-linked, solar-sensing, dual-zone automatic climate-control. Leaving no sense under stimulated, the Technology Package also offers a 410 Acura/ELS Surround Premium 10-speaker audio array.
While drivers are distracted from safely driving the Acura rdx 2012 by playing with the sound system or navigation system, passengers can find some consolation knowing that the RDX is intrinsically safe. Seriously, the RDX is equipped with side curtain airbags with rollover indicator, front side airbags with victim detection system, and Child Seat Lower Anchorage (LATCH). For alternative exiting solutions, the RDX is equipped with an interior trunk release.Handling, ride, and cornering in the 2012 Acura RDX are on a par with its luxury pedigree; with 4-Wheel ABS, Electronic Stability Control, Traction Control all standard, keeping you right side up and front end forward. Then, there are some features that are just indispensable, like Inflation Monitor, Brightness-Monitoring Rearview Mirrors, Pedestrian Safety Lights, and standard remote Door locks. Best in its segment for quiet ride, the 2012 Acura RDX is solidly built and insulated so nothing shakes loose. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety rated the 2012 Acura RDX in front, side, and rear crashes as good, as in 4 out of 4.

First there were rumors that Honda would axe the Acura RL, and then came the official word that it wouldn’t, but here is the first sign that the RL continues to carry on – even if the car has become irrelevant. While it’s not official for North America, Honda in Japan has announced that the Acura RL (still sold as the Legend there) will get a refresh for the 2012 model year that includes a new 6-speed automatic transmission. This may help the RL pick up a few extra buyers as the added gear should help improve both fuel economy and acceleration. Then again, perhaps its just a bigger sign of how irrelevant the RL is when the supposed luxury car is only now getting a 6-speed transmission – something Ford offers on the $13,000 Fiesta.A selection of other upgrades and trim changes for the RL are made for 2012, plus it gets a unique new invention: an in-wheel silencer that is designed to absorb road imperfections. No changes are slated for the 300-hp 3.7-liter V6 engine. If anyone at Honda is listening, we’re certain the addition of a more Honda-like grille (rather than the Acura beak) would help sell a few extra cars here as well.

Smaller than the Accord, the TSX cannot be misidentified as an Accord sold in the United States. The TSX hosts an attractive frontend, loads of gadgetry, and advantageous features thereby making it a desirable car. The Acura TSX hosts a 2.4-Liter Inline Four motor churning out 201 horsepower. Car buyers can also get a 3.5-Liter V-6 engine generating 280 horsepower. The TSX remains ahead of the pack in the sedan segment, and competes with the Audi A4 and BMW's 328i. Soon, the carmaker will offer a competitive wagon-style configuration; this will let the TSX take the lead when competing with German vehicles in the car segment. The TSX is making headway as it competes with German and Japan cars powered by a V-6 engine coupled with rear-drive features. What the TSX lacks in driving power and speed, it makes up for in driving manners.
