New Ferrari FF in All Sorts of Colors Filmed on the Roads of Maranello

ADVERTISEMENTS

Some people are so much into supercars that they don’t mind spending hours and hours on the road waiting for one to come by and record it in action. We, on the other hand, prefer to be the recipients of their work…

This Youtube user, for example, spent a great deal of time on the lookout for any Ferrari FF passing by near the Italian company’s headquarters in Maranello. He was able to spot a handful of cars in various color combinations. If you’re interested in the sights and sounds of Ferrari's four-seat, 660-horsepower V12 supercar, simply follow the break to watch the video.

Aussie Supercar Buyers Paying More than Anyone Else

ADVERTISEMENTS

In today’s economy, AU$1.0 will get you US$1.06, but it seems Australia’s overseas automakers have yet to acknowledge this. A Lamborghini Aventador, for example, costs a hefty AU$754,600 – or more than twice the price you would pay for one in the U.S. of A. And its 51% pricier than a V12 powered Lamborghini Diablo was ten years ago. This was tolerable when the Aussie dollar was worth 64 U.S. cents a few years ago, but those days are over.

While TV’s, computers and mobile phones have all become more affordable, supercars have not. It’s so bad that one prospective Lamborghini buyer, businessman Ra Hazouri, has flat out refused to pay.

Load Fail: Crashed Ferrari 355 Challenge Breaks free from Chains

ADVERTISEMENTS

Today’s video find takes us to Saint Gouéno in Bretagne, northwestern France, for an incident involving a Ferrari F355 Challenge racecar, which had crashed during a hill climb that took place in the area this past weekend.

We do not know how the race-spec Italian supercar ended up on its rooftop, but the film shows us what when on after that when a service truck arrived to pickup (literally) the Ferrari. As you can see in the video after the break, all goes well until the red F355 Challenge begins its ascent on the truck’s flatbed when all of a sudden it appears that the chain pulling the vehicle breaks and, well, it is not hard to imagine what happened next...

Investigators Uncover Multi-Million Pound Tax Scam in India; European Exotics, Foreign Diplomats and Bollywood Actors Involved

ADVERTISEMENTS

In what sounds more like the plot of a The Fast and the Furious movie than real life, investigators at India’s Directorate of Revenue Intelligence office (a.k.a. India’s IRS) have uncovered a massive exotic car smuggling operation in the nation’s capital of New Dehli. It all has to do with India’s notorious 100% import tax on new luxury vehicles.

It began with one New Dehli luxury car dealer, Sumit Walia, importing brand new luxury cars on forged invoices. These invoices listed the cars as second-hand, which saved Walia – and his customers – some 40% on import tax. Some of the cars – which included Porsches, Bentleys and Aston Martins – were found to have been stolen from the streets of Britain, France, Singapore and Japan.

Graf Weckerle-Tuned Ferrari 458 Italia

ADVERTISEMENTS
It seems that there is a tune for just about everyone and everything these days, from subtle to extreme, and all points in between. We do not know where exactly this Ferrari 458 Italia from German tuning firm Graf Weckerle fits in that spectrum, but those odd-looking alloy wheels are sure to catch the attention of every passerby.
Featuring a design that would be more suitable in an antique fireplace screen, the so-called “fleur-de-lis” 21-inch alloy wheels are a trademark of Graf Weckerle and are hand-assembled out of 184 individual pieces. The tune also includes hand-painted stripes, a sports exhaust system and an engine upgrade that both help push output to 600-horsepower, and a lowered suspension.

ADVERTISEMENTS

Bumping into or even just scraping against an object while pulling you car out of a parking space has probably happened to everyone at least once or twice. However, you would expect an owner of a spanking new Ferrari 599 GTO worth north of €260,000 or close to $400,000 to be far more careful that usual when attempting to reverse out of a parking space. Apparently, being careful was not in the nature of the owner of this blacked out 599 GTO in Cologne, Germany. Video follows after the break. Read more »

Feds Won’t Pay the Bill for a Ferrari F50 Wrecked by an FBI Agent

ADVERTISEMENTS

Back in 2009, an FBI agent made headlines after crashing a rare $750,000 Ferrari F50 that had been stored in a government impound lot. The story has it that the Italian supercar was stolen from a Pennsylvania dealer in late 2003, and while the insurance company paid off on the loss, the F50 was eventually found in August of 2008 in Kentucky. The V12-powered model from Maranello was then impounded and kept in Lexington, Kentucky, as part of an active criminal investigation. And here’s where the story gets interesting.

In May of 2009, FBI agent Fred Kingston invited Assistant U.S. Attorney J. Hamilton Thompson for a “short ride” in the 1995 Ferrari F50, of which 349 were ever made with only 50 coming to the States. Unfortunately, the joy ride was cut short after the driver lost control of the Italian supercar.

Ferrari's One-Off Superamerica 45 Special Drops its Top at Villa d'Este

ADVERTISEMENTS

The coachbuilt Ferrari Superamerica 45 special commissioned by American billionaire Peter Kalikow has arrived at the Villa d'Este for the Concorso D'Eleganza contest. Not surprisingly, a by-passer took advantage of the occasion and filmed the car's roof mechanism in action at its first outing under the sun. This is the first time we see the supercar’s rotating top on the move and we have to admit it's pretty fast.

2011 Ferrari Superamerica 45

ADVERTISEMENTS
Ferrari is once again showing off its coach-building capabilities with the release of its latest one-off special, the Superamerica 45, which will make its first public outing at this weekend’s Villa d’Este Concours d’Eleganza in Italy. It was built to order for New York billionaire, collector and former owner of the New York Post, Peter Kalikow, to celebrate the 45th anniversary of his Ferrari purchase in 1961.
Even though it was originally believed that the Superamerica would be designed by Pininfarina, the styling is the work of Ferrari Design with the engineering and manufacturing taking place in-house.
The Superamerica 45 is based on the Ferrari 599 and is distinguished by the custom bodywork and a rotating carbon-fiber roof. The latter incorporates a rear screen and works in a similar fashion to the one found in the older 575 Superamerica. Ferrari recently showed a limited edition drop top variant of the 599 called the Aperta, but this model featured a far more simple soft-top cover.
Other custom details include the double air vents on the front wing, a specific chromed front grille and burnished aluminium A-pillars, wing mirrors and door handles. The one-off Italian supercar is finished in an exclusive Blu Antille shade that matches the color of Kalikow’s 1961 Ferrari 400 Superamerica cabriolet nr. 2331SA. The vehicle’s alloy wheels are colored in the same hue while the roof and other carbon-fiber elements such as the front splitter, side skirts and rear diffuser are executed in a darker blue shade.
We don’t have any photos of the interior yet but Ferrari says the blue theme is carried over inside to the dashboard combined with Cuoio leather trim and Blu Scuro carbon fibre details.

It’s been a couple of months since Ferrari lifted the veils off the new FF, but as is the case with any new model from Maranello these days, the hype surrounding the all-wheel driver sports car has yet to die down.

For those of you that still haven’t had enough of Ferrari’s four-seater model, we now bring you some fresh photos –as always, in high resolution- of the FF shot during the media presentation, which took place at the snow track in Kronplatz, and the winding roads of Gardena, Sella, Pordoi and Campolongo in the Italian Dolomites. 2011 Ferrari F458 GT3

ADVERTISEMENTS

Ever since the Ferrari 458 Italia’s official launch, there have been plenty of racing teams interested in grabbing the sports car by its bubbly wheel arches and transforming it into a real winner. One such team goes by the name of STP, a racing team that hasn’t stepped foot on the European racing grounds since Ronnie Petersen succeeded in a second place finish with the STP March 711 in the 1971 Formula 1 World Championship 40 years ago.
This year, the team is back with an AF Corse Ferrari F458 Italia GT3 that, like with all the other Ferrari 458 Italia race cars, has been specially prepared for the race with many aerodynamic and safety features. The sports car was given a new front bumper, larger air vents for better engine cooling, new side skirts, and a huge rear wing for improved aerodynamics. The interior got splashed with carbon fiber components and a roll cage was added for increased driver safety.
The AF Corse Ferrari F458 Italia GT3’s first race will be held on May 8, 2011 at the Autódromo Internacional do Algarve in Portugal. It will be driven by the all-British line-up and the Championship’s youngest driver duo of Daniel Brown (19) and Glynn Geddie (20).
